Finding your favorite shows on the Reelz network has become much easier with the rise of digital streaming. Whether you are a fan of On Patrol: Live, Autopsy: The Last Hours of…, or the network’s deep dives into celebrity documentaries, you have several options to access this content. You can watch Reelz through traditional cable, satellite providers, or various live TV streaming services that cater to cord-cutters.
Understanding Your Viewing Options
Reelz is an independent cable and satellite television network. Unlike some major networks that are available for free with an over-the-air antenna, Reelz requires a subscription through a third-party provider. This means you will need to choose a service that includes the channel in its lineup.
The network is available in both standard and high definition. Depending on your provider, you may also have access to Video On Demand (VOD) features. This allows you to catch up on episodes you might have missed during their original airtime.
Streaming Reelz Without a Cable Subscription
If you have moved away from traditional cable, you can still watch Reelz through several streaming platforms. These services function similarly to cable but operate over your internet connection, often without the need for long-term contracts.
Peacock
Peacock is currently one of the most popular ways to stream Reelz content. The network reached a significant agreement to stream its linear channel and on-demand content through the Peacock platform. This is particularly beneficial for fans of On Patrol: Live, as the show streams live on Peacock at the same time it airs on the Reelz channel.
To access Reelz on Peacock, you generally need a Premium or Premium Plus subscription. Once subscribed, you can find the Reelz channel within the “Channels” section of the app or search for specific shows to watch them on demand.
Sling TV
Sling TV offers Reelz as part of an add-on package. It is not usually included in the base Orange or Blue tiers. Instead, you will need to subscribe to one of the base plans and then add the “Hollywood Extra” package.
This option is ideal for viewers who want a customizable channel lineup. Sling TV is compatible with most smart TVs, streaming sticks, and mobile devices, making it a flexible choice for home or on-the-go viewing.
Philo
Philo is known for being one of the most affordable live TV streaming services. While Reelz is not in their main package of 70+ channels, it is available through the “Movies & More” add-on. This add-on comes at a small monthly cost and includes several other cinema-focused networks.
Philo is a great choice if you prioritize cost-effectiveness and do not require local sports or major news networks. It also includes a robust unlimited DVR feature, so you can record Reelz shows and watch them later.
Frndly TV
Frndly TV is another budget-friendly streaming service that includes Reelz in its lineup. It focuses on family-friendly programming and classic television. Reelz is included in all of their subscription tiers, including the most basic plan.
Because Frndly TV is designed to be simple and affordable, it is a top recommendation for those who specifically want Reelz without paying for a massive bundle of channels they won’t watch.
DirecTV Stream
For those who want a viewing experience that most closely mimics traditional cable, DirecTV Stream is a strong contender. Reelz is included in many of their packages, though you should verify the specific tier before signing up.
DirecTV Stream offers high-quality streams and a familiar interface. It is particularly useful for households that want a wide variety of channels alongside their favorite Reelz programming.
Using the ReelzNow App
ReelzNow is the network’s official online service. It allows viewers to watch the live broadcast and catch up on full episodes of Reelz shows. However, it is important to note that ReelzNow is not a standalone subscription service like Netflix or Hulu.
To use ReelzNow, you must have an existing subscription through a participating cable, satellite, or streaming provider. You will use your provider’s login credentials (username and password) to “authenticate” the app. Once logged in, you can stream content on your computer, tablet, or smartphone.
Cable and Satellite Providers
If you prefer traditional television, Reelz is widely available across major providers. You can find it on systems such as DIRECTV, Dish Network, Verizon FiOS, and AT&T U-verse. Most major cable companies, including Xfinity, Spectrum, and Cox, also carry the network.
If you are unsure of the channel number in your area, you can use the “Channel Finder” tool on the official Reelz website. Simply enter your zip code and select your provider to see where Reelz is located on your grid.
Device Compatibility
Regardless of which service you choose, you will need a compatible device to start watching. Most modern streaming services that carry Reelz support the following hardware:
- Roku streaming sticks and TVs
- Amazon Fire TV Stick and Fire Cube
- Apple TV (4th generation and later)
- Google Chromecast
- Android and iOS smartphones and tablets
- Web browsers on PC and Mac
- Select Smart TVs from Samsung, LG, and Vizio
Tips for a Better Viewing Experience
To ensure you don’t miss any episodes, consider using the DVR features provided by your streaming service. Services like Philo and YouTube TV (if Reelz is available via add-on) offer cloud DVR, allowing you to save shows for several months. Additionally, ensure your internet connection is stable; a speed of at least 5 Mbps is recommended for standard definition, while 25 Mbps is better for high-definition streaming.
Conclusion
Accessing the Reelz network is straightforward once you know which providers carry the channel. From the affordability of Frndly TV and Philo to the convenience of Peacock, there is a solution for every budget and viewing preference. By selecting the right service for your needs, you can enjoy all the true crime, celebrity news, and live documentary programming the network has to offer.
